A 72-year-old was rescued thanks to the use of an external defibrillator that was installed in the Municipality of Kalamaria through the project Heart Safe Cities which is implemented within the Cross-border cooperation Programme Interreg IPA “Greece-Republic of North Macedonia 2014-2020”. The old man, who is recovering, was lucky as a trained nurse of the Customer Health Service Centre was at the scene giving him first aid by doing CPR and using one of the 43 installed defibrillators. This is the first incident occurring after their supply and installation, proving their vital importance for the protection of public health.
