The Heart Safe Cities project celebrates IWD2021 and shares with you opinions and thoughts of women living and working in the cross-border area.

“Leadership means inspiration. It means responsibility and accountability at the same time.Seeing back in the recent past, I realise that women in the health sector respond to the stereotypes following a difficult itinerary. Mothers or daughters, high-level executives or not, they stand in the front line and give daily lessons for a continuous fight all over Greece.”
Mrs Irene Chatzopoulou | Deputy – Managing Director of the 4th Health District of Macedonia and Thrace

“Being inspired by the United Nations theme for International Women’s Day 2021 “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”, we had the idea to invite women living and working in the cross-border area to send their messages on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2021, especially addressing the women working in the Health sector. So, it will not be for one day, but for at least one week that will celebrate Women’s day by posting the numerous messages we have received. Among the first to present.”
Mrs Anastasia Orfanidou | IpA Shield II Project Manager – G.H. Kilkis.

“Looking back to where I started from until where I am today, I can remember sleepless nights studying, working, taking care of my family and still working next day…however, I never felt alone, because thousands of women all over the world had a similar life. Yet through, we have to work harder so that the younger women at least to be truly #generationequality…”
Mrs Emily Makrialea | Director for Health Services Policies Programming and Development – 4th Health District of Macedonia and Thrace
